Duane Morey was born in Thief River Falls and moved to rural Barnesville (Lawndale) when he was in elementary school. When Duane was a sophomore in high school, his health teacher, Gayle Solum, took students on a tour of the funeral home with John Dobmeier. That sparked an interest in Duane. He later attended Minnesota State University Moorhead and then graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Service near Louisville, KY. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1995 and has worked in Onamia, MN, and Fargo, ND. For 13 years, he worked at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Duane’s duties involve managing the Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville. During the winter, Duane’s family time involves hockey, being a dad, and more hockey. Summer time is spent with family at the lake. Duane has almost 20 years of experience in funeral service and strives to help each and every family as they experience the loss of a loved one.

Paula Dobmeier

Funeral Assistant

Paula Dobmeier comes to funeral service because of her compassion and gentle manner. Her willingness to help and her caring attitude make her a natural at Dobmeier Funeral Home. With a last name of Dobmeier, she also comes to funeral service through her family. She is married to Tom Dobmeier, who is the son of Don and Margaret Dobmeier, who was raised upstairs at the funeral home. They have two children Jessica and Noah.

Paula loves to camp, especially in the fall of the year. She would love to see the remaining states she has not had a chance to visit.

In Paula's words, "Working at Dobmeier Funeral Home has shown me what a great honor it is to be able to spend time with the people of this area when their need is so great."

Kaylene Motschenbacher

Visitation Assistant

Kaylene Motschenbacher is the friendly face and the compassionate person you see at visitations and funerals. She helps families set up memorabilia and keeps the coffee and traffic flowing during that time. As a Barnesville lifer, she knows almost everyone, and what a benefit to have her familiar face be there to help.

Kaylene is also a wonderful seamstress who has sewn for JC Penney in Fargo for many years, and she also works out of her home. Perhaps she has hemmed up your wedding dress or the curtains in your home?

Kaylene's family includes her husband, Dennis, and her adult children.
